Pre Employment Enrollment Meeting Dates

The New River Criminal Justice Training Academy will conduct a final recruitment meeting for the 2020 Spring Pre-Employment Training Programs for its Law Enforcement, Jail, and Dispatcher programs on November 11, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. You must attend this final meeting to be considered for the Winter Spring Classes.New River Criminal Justice Training Academy is an approved Veterans provider for those who qualify under the G. I. Bill. You must call and register for the meeting by contacting Mrs. Lisa Sullivan at (540)674-5846 ext 100 to register.


Training Announcement

The New River Criminal Justice Training Academy is hosting a three leadership development series entitled Developing the Leader and Bring Your ‘A’ Game December 16-18, 2019 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. In this course you will learn the skills and principles needed to be a great leader, not only to yourself, but to those around you. The workshop is a hands-on, interactive experience that will help you hone and develop the necessary leadership skills to get you to the next level. Day 1—December 16, 2019 will cover topics such as: The definition of leadership: Influence, The key to leadership: Priorities, The most important ingredient of leadership: Integrity, The ultimate test of leadership: Creating Positive Change, The quickest way to gain leadership: Problem-Solving and The extra plus in leadership: Attitude Day 2—December 17, 2019 will cover: Developing your most appreciable asset: People, The indispensable quality of leadership: Vision, The price tag of leadership: Self-Discipline, and The most important lesson of leadership: Staff Development. Day 3—December 18, 2019 we will change to the second part of the series which is entitled Bring Your ‘A’ Game. This is an engaging curriculum for building the seven foundational workplace skills of Work Ethic? Unlike boring online training programs, this curriculum is interactive, and consistently delivers lasting impact. It explores the main concepts of recruiting, hiring and retaining quality employees by re-enforcing individual characteristics such as: ATTITUDE: Staying positive in every situation, ATTENDANCE: Showing you’re reliable in every phase of your life, APPEARANCE: Being professional both in the way you act, and the way you look, AMBITION: Taking initiative and adding value, and ACCEPTANCE: Having respect and following direction, APPRECIATION: Demonstrating your gratitude towards others and ACCOUNTABILITY: Living honestly and having integrity with every decision you make. To register, please contact Mrs. Lisa Sullivan at 540-674-5846 extension 100. Registration deadline is December 12, 2019.

The 4th quarter session for online training will open October 1, 2019 and will be open for enrollments through December 15, 2019. After this date uncompleted sessions will be voided and you will have to re-register after January 1, 2020.

The New River Criminal Justice Training Academy is one of the Commonwealth of Virginia’s eleven regional academies providing a wide variety of criminal justice programs for local law enforcement officers, jail officers, and communications personnel for its member agencies located in the New River Valley. Established in 1975, the NRCJTA mission is to provide "professionalism through training" to the officers and staffs of its member organizations by providing training opportunities based upon mandated skills requirements and specific identified member agency training needs. The primary objective of the Academy is to assist the professional growth and development of Law Enforcement, Jail, and Dispatcher personnel employed by local jurisdictions in its service area. For over 44 years, the New River Criminal Justice Training Academy has been committed to providing the highest achievable quality of program instruction to its member agencies.
